I’ve been skating with Rockefeller on the ice,
wrapping myself up in the colors of Christmas lights and the honking of taxi horns.
I’ve been exploring new streets and trying to walk fast.
I’ve been a kid in the biggest toy store there is,
lighting up the big piano amongst the toddlers.
I’ve been dreaming while devouring the big apple.
I’ve been looking for a way out, a place to rest, a corner of quiet in the city that never sleeps.
I’ve been central to the park and listened to horse hoofs on pavement,
while the accents of a million nations melt together.
I have thrown in my own southern drawl, happily uniting my story in the movement.
I’ve been opening doors, expanding thoughts, extending my thanks for the gifts offered to me amongst the towering buildings and glimmering lights.
I’ve been spreading the news.
You captured the spirit of NY beautifully!
