"The bahlest steinber hornin', chiggrul gormin', tidrick in the heelch of the Boont Region!"

Continuing the trip planning,  I came across the town of Boonville, CA. It’s a few hours north of San Fran off Route 128, and apparently is the only place in the country that still has its own language, “Boont.” They created “Boont” over 100 years ago to keep info from nosy outsiders. There, you say “can kicky” instead of angry, and a “Bucky Walter” is a telephone. Title above is how they describe their annual beer festival.

Oh yes, we will most certainly be making a stop in Boonville for a “horn of zeese” (cup of coffee).

This and this break my heart. For those I know, and those I don’t know…friends, coworkers, who are from, or are living or traveling in Mumbai or Bangkok, my thoughts are with you.

Happy Evacuation Day, NYC

I learned about a new holiday today. Today marks the 225th anniversary of the day the British troops evacuated New York City and the last shot of the Revolutionary War was fired. The holiday used to be NY’ers’ favorite, celebrated as much as the 4th of July for the first 100 years.
